I took a break from the business to start a family and build a Sports Media consultancy, but never lost the “bug.”
I am ecstatic to be back in the Carolinas, and back on air! I spent fifteen years in the broadcast new business before taking a break to start a family, write a book and build a Sports Media consultancy. While I certainly enjoyed my new directions, I never lost the “bug.”

Earlier this week, North Carolina state lawmakers passed a bill to clean up some of the state's coal ash sites.  They include Riverbend in the Charlotte region, the Dan River, the Sutton plant on the coast and a site in Asheville.  For the plants not on the list, including the retired coal-burning Buck Steam Plant in Rowan County, the new legislation requires Duke Energy to evaluate and determine a solution for the coal ash.  Whatever plan Duke decides will have to be approved by State regulators. Another issue being discussed in Raleigh this week is "fracking" or hydraulic fracturing... the process of drilling and injecting mostly water into the ground at a high pressure to fracture rock and release natural gas.  This is a highly controversial topic.  Supporters like the Executive Director of the North Carolina Petroleum Council list benefits including new jobs and increased revenue for the state.  Opponents like the Catawba Riverkeeper worry about things like earthquakes, and air and water pollution. Hear more from both of them.
