Chicago Police sergeant accused of trying to sexually assault a child
By FOX News
A Chicago Police Department Sergeant is being investigated after a co-worker's daughter claimed he asked her to kiss him. He then allegedly tried to sexually assault her while watching a movie.
61-year-old Dennis Barnes has been with the Chicago Police Department for 27 years., his attorney called the claims ridiculous.
Authorities say the girl and her brother were watching a movie during a party at the home when Barnes joined them. Barnes allegedly got under a blanket with the girl concealing his hands when he started massaging the girl's feet. Officials say Barnes tried to sexually assault her when she stopped him.
The girl's brother reported the activity to his mother who called police.
After reporting the incident Barnes, allegedly threatened the mother and told her he would harm himself and others with a gun.
A judge ordered the sergeant held on a $100,000 bond for attempted predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
The department has relieved Barnes of his police powers pending the outcome of his case.
