NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Gospel singer and Grammy Award winner Smoke Norful is headlining the Motown Gospel Revue at Central Park on Saturday. But first, he made a pit stop in the Good Day New York studios to perform a song off his new album, 'Forever Yours.'

It's the first studio album for the pastor and singer in five years. Norul got his start decades earlier.

"I've been singing since I was 4 years old. My parents have pictures of me singing and playing the piano in my diapers," said Norful.

His father gave him the name 'Smokie' in honor of a deceased friend.

“My dad started calling me that before I was born. He had a best friend in high school that passed and he always said ‘I want to call my first born ‘Smokie," said Norful.

On Saturday, he'll be sharing the stage with fellow members of the Gospel music scene including Tasha Cobbs, Pastor Charles Jenkins, VaShawn Mitchell, Kierra Sheard and Micah S.

The event begins at 3 p.m. and is free to the public.

Comedian Richard Lewis and 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' creator Larry David go way back.  "We went to camp (as kids), hated him, never saw him again. I started at the Improv, no longer here, and he was a fan. I was drinking back then and I said 'I hate you.' We had a fistfight at a bar and we bonded. We love each other and yet we annoy each other," said Lewis. The pair was quite the comedic duo on the hit HBO show.
