Undercover agents at murdered Armada teen's funeral

Posted: Updated:
ARMADA, Mich. (WJBK) - A community, clad in pink, gathered Friday for the funeral of the murdered Armada teen, April Millsap.

April's funeral was at St. Mary Mystical Rose Catholic Church. April is said to have loved her church youth group, poetry and animals. She also loved walking her dog, Penny. Penny was the one to alert joggers last Thursday evening that April had been murdered.

Investigators continue to leave no stone unturned in the search for her killer. Authorities staked out at the funeral Friday while undercover officers attended.

Investigators also canvassed the town Thursday evening, stopping cars searching for tips. They're still looking for information about a blue and white motorcycle or scooter seen along the trail, along with a man who may look similar to a composite sketch.

Shaw says they received 6 - 10 "good" tips by phone after the canvass. Each tip is being taken seriously.

The latest part of their investigation took them Friday afternoon to nearby Omo Lake. State police combed the area with a K9 unit.

"The dive teams worked today to go back through the ponds, through the different areas of where April might have been just to see if we could find any evidence back there," says Michigan State Police Lt. Michael Shaw.

He says tips dried up after Wednesday's raid on a home in Goodells. Police say they arrested two men on charges of growing marijuana illegally. He says right now they're not considered suspects in April's murder, nor are her family members or boyfriend.
