It was announced in February but it's still hard to believe that Jim Oddo will not be on the sidelines this fall for Charlotte Catholic High School. Oddo was at the helm of the Cougars for 40 years but ask him and he'll tell you, "It was time."

Now just a mere three weeks away Charlotte Catholic is about to go into a new season, with a new coach, and a new look.

"I will use a lot of what he (Oddo) has taught me along with my experience throughout my coaching career," said CCHS head coach Mike Brodowicz. "Hopefully put together a program as we say protects the tradition that Coach Oddo built."

Brodowicz has been at Catholic for 10 years. He first came on as a defensive coach but his history as a college quarterback and a college offensive coach, he believes that experience can give the Cougars a good chance to win.

"If we need to throw the ball 30 times a game then we are going to be able to do that to win the game," said Brodowicz.

Catholic traditionally is a run first, smash mouth football team. Their offense has been built around the Wing-T for decades and Brodowicz says that it will continue to be that way. He will add his own touches to it though.

"I tell people I'd be a fool to try something different," said Brodowicz.

Charlotte Catholic will also wear new uniforms this season. The school signed a deal with Adidas that will give them a variety of different uniform combinations.

"The look of us on the field is going to be kind of fun," said Brodwicz.

Catholic opens their season at Providence Day Saturday, August 23.
