Benefit for paralyzed Grosse Pointe Park Police officer

GROSSE POINTE, Mich. (WJBK) - A local police officer is now paralyzed after a car accident. He's dedicated his life to helping those in need, and now others are returning the favor.

Forty-eight-year-old Keith Andersen retired in February from the Grosse Pointe Park Police Department. On June 21, he was involved in a roll over accident where he suffered a broken neck.

As of now, Keith has no movement in his the lower half of his body.

The Fraternal Order of Police Grosse Pointe Lodge 102 is holding a corn roast benefit for Keith on August 5 beginning at 5:30 p.m. The event will be at Grosse Pointe Farms Pier Park. .

He and his family are now in need of a wheelchair van and home renovations to make the house accessible to Keith. If you would like to make a donation to the family you can do so via their GoFundMe account.
