Hit-and-run victim speaks out, search for driver continues

Posted: Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. - Tempe Police are asking for your help in solving a hit and run crash. Monday night a man was walking his bike along Broadway road and was hit. The driver who fled the scene hasn't been found.

"I remember just trying to go home after, because I had no idea what happened," said Justin Devalk.

He was walking his bike along the north side of the street, and it was around 9 p.m. Monday night and he was walking against traffic.

"He was far enough that he wouldn't hit me or anything, then all of a sudden he came at me," said Devalk.

"The vehicle did not stick around, we think it's a 2001 to 2006, possible a Dodge Stratus or Chrysler Sebring, dark in color. We don't have a lot of information other than that," said Sgt. Steve Carbajal.

However, there were witnesses who stopped to help Justin, they called 911 and paramedics rushed him to the hospital.

"There was the deepest cut, I could feel my bone, and there was like a sausage ball, I was like "yeah i'll stay here," and I didn't even know about the 7 deepest cuts that almost gave me brain damage," said Devalk.

He is asking for anyone that may help lead them to the driver.

"Come forward, help me, I'm trying to figure out who he is," he said.
