BENSENVILLE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) - An autopsy Thursday was inconclusive for a 4-year-old boy who died in a house fire in northwest suburban Bensenville.

Martin Pletz was pronounced dead at 6:12 p.m. Wednesday after he became trapped in the blaze in the 1500 block of West Devon Avenue, according to the DuPage County Coroner’s office.

An autopsy Thursday was inconclusive pending further investigation by the coroner, Bensenville police and the DuPage County Arson Task Force, according to the coroner’s office.

About 2 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a brick, one-story home and began an “aggressive attack” on the blaze, which extended from the main floor to the roof, according to a statement from the Bensenville Fire Protection District.

One other person was treated for minor injuries at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. A total seven people were displaced from the home, which sustained “significant” damage, the district said.

Two dogs were also killed in the blaze.

Donations for the affected family can be sent to district headquarters at 500 S. York Rd. in Bensenville.
