He wowed crowds alongside James Brown, and now Nafloyd Scott wants to make sure his story is heard, as a new movie about the legend gets ready to hit the big screen.
The 79-year-old guitarist was stunned to learn part of his life story will be included in the new biopic about James Brown.
Scott spoke to FOX 5’s Portia Bruner about his own fame and his mixed feelings about the movie.
Scott was born and raised in Toccoa, Georgia and was thrilled to hit the road as one of the original members of James Brown’s Famous Flames.
Scott was 20-years-old when he got his first taste of stardom in 1955, but after three years on the road Scott called it quits and returned to his hometown to settle down.
Few people are aware of Scott’s role in James Brown’s career and his family was stunned to see he will be included in Get On Up, which is an upcoming Hollywood biopic about Brown’s life.
“It kind of hurt,” said Scott. “For them to make a movie like that and not notify me.”
Scott, who is blind, will go to the movie and hope it tells Brown’s story and maybe a little of his own.
