The internet is debating whether or not a video someone uploaded to Facebook is a funnel or shelf cloud.

We asked Chief Meteorologist Rob Eicher, and he ended the debate: it's a shelf cloud.

David Lyle uploaded the video of what he originally thought was a funnel cloud in Nevada on July 21, 2014. The video appears to be a time lapse next to a suburb called Spanish Springs.

The post got dozens of comments and thousands of shares on Facebook.

In What's Shakin with Sheeka, Rob Eicher explains the difference between a shelf cloud and a funnel cloud.

A funnel cloud leads to a tornado, with swirling winds. A shelf cloud can be dangerous with straight line winds, but it isn't always. Shelf clouds are created when you get a gust of cool wind ahead of a thunderstorm.

He says the probability of a tornado in Nevada in July is less than 0.1%.
