Union County high school football teams participate in NFL Development Camp

Posted: Updated:

The National Guard and the National Football League teamed up to host the NFL Development Camp at Cuthberston High Tuesday morning.

Six high school football teams from Union County joined in for a morning full of drills and 7-on-7, followed by an hour lecture on the importance of teamwork, hard work and protecting yourself for the future by staying out of trouble.

Players are constantly reminded about the importance of behavior throughout the school year, but members of the National Guard say that sometimes it helps to put a new face behind the message.

"From experience being in high school you really only listen to yourself or your mom," National Guard member Daniel Moose says. "When it's repetitive is when it starts making sense, it starts clicking for them, and they actually start believing it."

Cuthbertson, Monroe, Parkwood, Piedmont, Weddington and Union Academy joined in.
