ATLANTA - Police are searching for the person who fatally wounded a man only blocks from the Atlanta Police Department headquarters late Monday evening.

According to an Atlanta Police Department spokesperson, officers responded to a report of a shooting just before 11 p.m. Monday night in the 200 block of Trinity Avenue. There, they found a teenager shot to the chest. He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital where he later died.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office identifies the victim as being Montavious Washington, 18, of Atlanta.

Detectives believe the victim had gotten into an argument with the gunman prior to being shot. They believe he ran from the shooting scene and collapsed at the location on Trinity Avenue.

No word on possible suspects or arrest in the case.
