Mario Black was good friends with Bianca Tanner. And since she went missing, he felt like something just wasn't right.

Black remembers when Tanner met her boyfriend, Angelo Grayson Smith Jr. He says for the most part she seemed happy, but may have missed some red flags. Black says "At the time it seemed like they were in a normal relationship, but looking back in hindsight, the signs were there, we just didn't know what to look for."

Black started a youth movement group in the Queen City, to fight senseless violence. He says the loss of his friend will motivate him even more to spread the word about domestic violence.

Jane Taylor is the clinical supervisor at Safe Alliance, Mecklenburg County's only domestic violence shelter. She says the death of Bianca Tanner is tragic.

Tanner's son told police that Angelo Smith "hit mommy." And Taylor says children absorb more than you think. If they are caught in the middle of an abusive situation, they're likely to remember it, and tell police.

Taylor says the shelter is a safe place for women to go, and she hopes the interest in this case, will ultimately educate the public.
