APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (KMSP) -

Five wolf pups orphaned by a wildfire on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula are moving south this month to a permanent home at the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley.

The pups were rescued from the 200,000 square acre Funny River Fire on May 27 and brought to the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage. The Alaska Zoo said the pups are spending most of their time in their outdoor pen, and will be on display until July 14 before moving to Minnesota.

“We are super excited for the five rescued wolf pups, currently at the Alaska Zoo, to make their home at the Minnesota Zoo soon!” the Minnesota Zoo posted on Facebook.
