ATLANTA, Ga. - Atlanta Police arrested a woman Monday after she alleged dragged a police officer beside her car.

Officers said they spotted Anna Dittmer, slumped over her steering wheel next to railroad tracks on McDaniel Street in northwest Atlanta Monday. They believe Dittmer was impaired at the time.

According to a news release, two APD officers approached her vehicle at the same time as an oncoming train. When the train approached the car, it sounded its warning system and police say Dittmer woke up. Authorities say Dittmer attempted to flee the scene when she saw the officers.

One of the officers, Officer Kevin Thigpen reached into the car to try to apprehend Dittmer but was dragged by the car until it crashed into a pole.

Medics took Thigpen to Grady Memorial Hospital where doctors treated him for lacerations and abrasions to his head, arms and legs and a fractured left hand.

Officers arrested Dittmer and charged her with improper stopping in roadway next to railroad tracks, driving while license suspended, reckless driving, DUI drugs, DUI drugs less safe, serious injury by motor vehicle, giving false name to law enforcement, aggravated assault, felony obstruction, possession of methamphetamines.

Dittmer appeared in court on Tuesday. She was denied bond. She will have a preliminary hearing on July 15th at 9:30 a.m. at the Fulton County Courthouse.
