Gastonia, North Carolina -

A snake heist was caught on tape in Gastonia.  It happened around 3 o'clock Sunday morning at Reptile Passions, a specialty shop.   Gastonia police are looking for a man - and his accomplice - who stole the 35 rare breed snakes worth an estimated $30,000. One of the snakes - a Pied Tiger Reticulated Python - is worth $12,000.  According to surveillance video, a man broke through the glass door on the 2500 block of West Franklin Blvd.  The thief - whose accomplice gave him directives via cell phone - swiped the snakes in 20 minutes, and then made a run for it. The owner of the shop, Jonathan McMillan, says he believes there was a getaway car waiting for the thief outside the shop.

The stolen snakes range from boas to pythons.  If caught, the thieves face felony burglary charges.  The owner, McMillan, has posted the surveillance video on his website.  He hopes someone will recognize the man in the video and give Gastonia Police a call.  He plans to offer a reward.

No arrests have been in the case.
