Piedmont High junior quarterback Cameron Tripp has made his commitment to play at Harvard University

"Harvard is one of the top schools in the country academically and they also win Ivy League championships in football," Tripp said. "And that appealed to my competitive nature.

Tripp has a 4.67 G.P.A. He threw for 1,800 yards last season and rushed for 600 while totaling 26 touchdowns.

"Playing quarterback you get to be the 'guy' so to speak," Tripp said. "Your team really has to believe in you and you really have to believe in yourself."

Tripp is also a basketball standout and is 168 points shy of breaking the all-time scoring record at Piedmont.

Now that he's given his word to Harvard, Tripp says that he's ready to enjoy his final season for the Piedmont Panthers.

"My first-three years I spent, not stressing, but working towards the goal of getting to college and playing a sport or going to college and getting a good degree," Tripp said. "So now that I do have the opportunity to go to college I'm going to enjoy my senior year."
