DETROIT (WJBK) -  Arson investigators say they have a dangerous suspect in custody that may have set hundreds of fires in Detroit over time.

He was arrested Monday morning suspected of torching abandoned homes, one after another, from midnight to 6:30 a.m.

A neighbor familiar with the arrest tells Fox 2 the man in his 40s had a brother who died in a fire as a child, and he allegedly torches buildings because he's angry. Fire officials confirmed the suspect may have set hundreds of fires and may have a vendetta against the fire department.

We're told arson investigators had a description of their suspect and they were doing surveillance when they finally caught him.

That arrest came around 7:30 a.m. just down the street from fire number five.

The suspect is currently locked up and being questioned. We're told a warrant request will be sent to the prosecutor's office for at least five arsons first thing Tuesday morning.

No injuries were reported in any of the five overnight fires.
