I guess you could say my journalism career began about the time I won “Best Storyteller” in my kindergarten class. I’m a proud graduate of Winston-Salem State University, where I worked at the school newspaper for four years, three as sports editor and one as editor-in-chief.

The Charlotte Hornets made their return to the NBA Draft official on Thursday night, picking Indiana's Noah Vonleh and UConn's Shabazz Napier. Vonleh went ninth overall, while the Hornets selected Napier 24th overall but are expected to trade him to Miami for former North Carolina swingman P.J. Hairston.

The Hornets are expected to trade Napier to the Miami Heat for Hairston (26th overall) and two second round picks, one this year (55th overall) and a future one.

Hairston played two seasons at North Carolina before being dismissed from the team following several run-ins with the law. He played in the NBA Developmental League this spring and worked out for the team twice.

Vonleh's pick makes two consecutive years the franchise has selected a player from Indiana as they selected Cody Zeller fourth overall last year. He averaged 11.3 points and nine rebounds in one season at Indiana.

The Hornets also have the 45th pick in the draft.
