Loaves & Fishes opened its 20th food pantry on Monday, June 23. The new pantry is located in Centro Cristiano Dios de Pactos (CCDP) Church in the former St. Andrews Episcopal Church at 3601 Central Avenue in Charlotte.

Last year Loaves & Fishes closed the St. Andrews food pantry due to the church permanently closing in May 2013.

"We are delighted to reopen a pantry in this high need neighborhood," Lucy Mitchell, director of development and public relations for Loaves & Fishes, said. "Bilingual volunteers and members of CCDP will staff the pantry, assisting clients as they choose a one week supply of nutritionally balanced food."

Harris Teeter supermarkets donated $13,000 from their annual golf tournament to help stock the pantry during its first weeks of operation.

Loaves & Fishes is a non-profit emergency food pantry program that provides a week's worth of groceries at no cost to individuals and families who are experiencing a crisis. For more information on Loaves & Fishes, visit www.loavesandfishes.org.
