Growing up wasn't easy for Jazzy Kirkley. He didn't have a mom or dad and he was raised by another family. "I grew up on a farm in the country," Kirkley said. "My mom and dad left me with a white family. That family raised me as a kid." Today, family is everything to Kirkley. But his favorite thing to do? Throw some punches.

Jamie Comstock-Williamson, suspended Winthrop University President, will not appear before the Board of Trustees Thursday, according to Judy Longhsaw, the university's media services manager.

On Friday, June 13th, the Board held a seven hour meeting to discuss Williamson's contract. Winthrop University's trustees voted in a public session 12-1 to deliver Williamson with a notice of termination.

In the notice, the Board accused Williamson of:
-Abuse of authority/position/and/or violation of South Carolina Ethics Act and/or University Policies
-Providing false and misleading information to trustees
-Providing false and misleading information to others resulting in false information being published in local and statewide media and to the Winthrop community.

Under her terms of contract with the university, Williamson has the right to a "reasonable opportunity to be heard" before the Board before further action takes place.

At Thursday's meeting, the Board will determine if they will terminate Williamson.

The Board Chair, Kathy Bigham, says, “the Board is carrying out its responsibilities as stewards of Winthrop University in initiating this process. Trustees are aware of public concerns and questions about certain matters at Winthrop, and we want to be sure that President Williamson has every opportunity to respond to those concerns in a comprehensive manner before we consider what, if any, next steps should be taken.”

Since the meeting, Williamson has threatened Winthrop with a lawsuit for violating her contract. Read the letter here.
