Utility Bill Increase for Rock Hill Residents

Posted: Updated:
Rock Hill City Council voted increase utility bills for residents when they approved the 2014 Budget on Monday.

Starting in July, residents will see around a $7.00 increase on their bills for electric and storm water expenses.

Mayor Doug Echols says he doesn't like increasing bills, but said it was necessary because the city's power provider, Piedmont Municipal Power Agency, increased their rate. "That's what you have to do," said Echols. "You have to pass along those rate increases in order to be able to cover those expenses."
