If you live along Mallard Creek Church Road, you have seen many changes in the last few years. The I-485 extension project has been underway since 2010 and it's now in it's final portion in the Mallard Creek area. It's causing headaches for one family though.

Moving to Charlotte from New York was an easy choice for Jeffres Pascel.

"It's a beautiful city. Nice people down here, you know what I mean, it's always busy and lively," said Pascel.

The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce is hoping to attract others to the area. More people would mean more places to shop.

"The more people there are, the more retail that can be supported," said Charlotte Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Bob Morgan.

Some people think uptown needs more places to shop.

"A lot of people would go. They would do well," said Pascel.

Charlotte Chamber members just returned from Minneapolis. There, they learned ways the city can promote an more active life-style.

"Charlotte ranks 27th on the list of healthiest cities in America.  Minneapolis is consistently first or second," said Morgan.

Besides improving parks, one of the ways includes the possibility of additional bike lanes.  It's something that appeals to uptown cyclists like Bruce Garland.

"Riding on the sidewalk and the bike lanes would be great," said Garland.

The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce hopes the changes will produce another big payoff, a Super Bowl.

"You have to have the intrastructure, you have to have hotel rooms. We have the right number of hotel rooms to meet the requirement,"  said Morgan.

While the Charlotte Chamber says there are enough hotel rooms, it could be a while before we see a super bowl in the city.
But, jeffres is "hungry" for more people to visit the queen city.
