Charlotte Beavers May Be Euthanized

Posted: Updated:

Some business owners in east Charlotte are concerned about a beaver problem.

Wildlife experts say the beavers typically hide during the day and attack at night. So far they've caused damage to trees, which can also cause property damage.

Beavers also clogged up culverts which can cause flood waters to rise.

The stagnant water it creates can be a haven for mosquito breeding.

North Carolina state law says they have to be euthanized.

State officials are looking into the problem. They may decide to euthanize the beavers.

The beaver population isn't just impact local business owners around the Independence Blvd area but also some neighbors along Park Road.
