North and South Carolina have a battle over the border going on. Where Gaston County, North Carolina meets York County, South Carolina is up in the air. The Ourfalian family lives just on the edge of that boundary. They have two addresses.

Country Acres Rescue is home to more than 400 birds including Casey, a baby macaw. Casey was rescued by Lynn Woodard, the operator of the farm. According to Woodard, Casey was left in a metal nest box and her legs became fused.

When Woodard took Casey to a veterinarian, she was presented with two options, $3,000 surgery or euthanization.

"I sat in there and cried about it," Woodard said. "When she came back in there, I said we're gonna do the surgery. One way or the other, I'm gonna get the money for surgery."

Woodard was able to pay for surgery on one of Casey's legs using money she saved to build a new shelter for the birds. Now Woodard is asking for the community's help. She cannot afford to pay for surgery on the other leg and started a Go Fund Me campaign to raise money.

Without the funds, she is afraid Casey will have to be euthanized.

"I can't euthanize her," she said. "She's already calling me momma. I was sitting there one day holding her and she said, momma. And I just started balling."
