HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J- A second person has died following a violent accident along the Atlantic City Expressway.

The second victim was a 4-year old boy.

Several more people were rushed to area hospitals.

The crash shut down part of the highway for more than five hours.

State police say it was just after 7:00 a.m. when a white pickup truck struck the guard rail in the westbound lanes of the expressway and flipped over, sending the six people inside flying onto the roadway. One man was killed, five others injured.

SKYFOX was overhead as three medevac helicopters landed on the highway to evacuate the injured. State police say 35 year old passenger James Dennis, a father of three from Philadelphia, was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The others were taken by ambulance to the Atlanticare Regional Medical center in Atlantic City or airlifted to Cooper Hospital in Camden with serious injuries.

The crash shut down the westbound lanes of the expressway for 5 hours while rescue crews tended to the injured. The New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Team was on scene to investigate.

"Being that all six passengers were ejected from the vehicle, it's safe to say they were not wearing their safety belts," said Sgt. Monica Nuhfer of New Jersey State Police.

State police said the driver, 45 year old Roselyn Kornegay of Philadelphia, was air lifted to Cooper Hospital along with a juvenile who was in the rear bed of the truck. Both were in critical condition. 19-year-old Brian Gregory and 18-year-old Shaniqua Abrams, both of Philadelphia, were taken to Atlanticare in critical condition along with a 4-year-old who has since passed.

Police say the 4-year-old was not in a safety seat, and was sitting in the front seat.
