New Age Spirituality takes on many forms: intuition, tarot, meditation, psychic ability. There is a woman in Charlotte who some say can do it all. They call her the Queen of Intuitives. She says she can see spirits and predict the future.

Buddhism is slowly growing across the Carolinas. It's a religion grounded in peaceful meditation. Now, the religion is starting to make noise in Charlotte, an emerging fixture in this City of Churches. The Charlotte True Buddha Temple offers a traditional style of Buddhism.  The Temple is seeking new, young members.  The Vajradhara Buddhist Center in Uptown offers meditation classes and more.  A diverse group of patrons finds this modern spin on Buddhism alluring.

Temperatures were blazing again Wednesday across the Carolinas.  The blistering heat can be especially dangerous for senior citizens and children.  Dr. Marcus Plescia, Mecklenburg County Health Director, says both groups are vulnerable to heat exhaustion.   He offers some advice:  “If they are your neighbors, you need to check on them.  If they are [members] of your family or friends, you need to check on them.  Make sure they don’t seem sick or confused, because they can get in trouble fast.”

The folks at the McCrorey YMCA in West Charlotte follow an established plan when temperature and humidity levels reach the danger zone.  Rebecca Grobe, a manager at the McCrorey YMCA explains: “We do most of our outdoor activities in the morning before it gets too hot.  We have shaded areas for midday if we’re doing activities [outside].”

The signs of heat exhaustion include dizziness, sweating, nausea, and shortness of breath.  If you see seniors or young children who exhibit these signs, get help.  It could be heat exhaustion.
