Missing Teacher Search Warrant: “Mommy Got a Spanking with a Belt”

New documents released Monday in the case of missing teacher, Bianca Richardson Tanner, are shedding light into what may have preceded her disappearance.

According to a search warrant, police several items from the apartment on Druid Circle where Mrs. Tanner was living. Items seized included notebooks, a Dell Laptop, a white iPhone, a gold earring, photographs, papers and foam bedding found in an outdoor trashcan.

The warrant stated that police were searching for any evidence related to an assault on a female. It also gave a possible account of the night before her disappearance.

According to the document, Charlotte Mecklenburg Police officers responded to a call about a missing person at 12:37 on June 8th. Bianca Tanner was reported missing by her boyfriend, Angelo Smith.

Smith said he received a text the night before that led to a “small argument.” Documents say Smith told police she left the house intoxicated and carrying a bag and was not seen from again.

Police reached out to Tanner’s family and determined she was in fact missing and had not reached out to anyone, including her 3-year-old son, Jarrod.

When officers interviewed Jarrod, he said, “Mommy got a spanking with the belt. Angelo kicked mommy’s butt and made her cry. Angelo is mean to mommy and mommy in the face.”

A background check was conducted on Smith, and it revealed he has an outstanding warrant for domestic battery in Arkansas. Authorities there said his then-girlfriend reported that Smith “threw her onto the bed and covered her face, both mouth and nose, with his hand smothering her.”

Charlotte authorities are planning to complete a more detailed forensic search of Smith’s car in relation to a possible assault on a female charge in Tanner’s case.
