I got so sick of the Canadian cold, I moved down to Charlotte just to avoid the snow. And of course to join the My Fox Carolinas family as a Digital Journalist. I grew up in Calgary (think the Houston of Canada) and after graduating from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Journalism, I moved to Toronto to cover sports; which in Canada means hockey.

Rock Hill, SC - The City of Rock Hill announced today that it will host the 2017 BMX World Championships.

Rock Hill's outdoor center will soon be home to a world class BMX park. It's slated to be finished in August, and there are already several events lined up for late 2014.

From July 26-30, 2017, the BMX park will hosts 3,000 amateur and 300 professional racers for the World Championships.

The city launched a bid three months ago and it ended in Rock Hill being awarded this enormous event.

City officials estimate the event will generate $13 million for the Rock Hill area.
