Police Following Leads 6 Years After Murders At Sun Drop Plant

Posted: Updated:

Today marks six years since a gunman came into the Sun Drop Bottling Company in Concord and killed two people. Donna Barnhardt, an employee, and Darrell Noles, a job applicant, were shot and killed inside the business. Police believe the killer came in to rob the place.

Concord Police Chief Guy Smith tells My Fox Carolinas detectives are continually getting calls about the case. Smith said, “We have information now that we’re working on that we’re following up right now that has been provided to us that we believe may have a connection to this and could lead us to the people that were responsible for this.”

Police have released a sketch from people who saw the man leaving the Sun Drop Company and traveling across Branchview Drive and up Cabarrus Avenue, where police believe he was picked up in a vehicle.

Rebecca Valentine, Donna Barnhardt’s daughter, said, “I remember that day, every minute of that day like it was yesterday.”

Rebecca Valentine describes what it would mean to her family if the killer was caught. Valentine said, “It would mean I’m not thinking when I pass someone on the street, ‘Could that be them?’ When we’re having Christmas, is he having Christmas with his family?”

Barnhardt’s granddaughter, Avery Valentine, said, “It’s horrible knowing that he could strike again for someone else’s family and they have to feel the pain that we’ve gone through for the last six years.”

If anyone has information on the case, please call 704-920-5000. $85,000 in reward money is being offered in the case.
