Would you answer a phone call from a stranger then drive and pick that person up and take them to their desired destination? Many people would say no, but a cab driver does this everyday.

With that comes a risk of violence. Early Tuesday morning a cab driver was shot during an attempted robbery.

"The last thing I expect to happen is pick up somebody that wants to shoot me," said taxi driver Bill Dobbins.

Dobbins has been driving a cab for five years. Although he has never been in a dangerous situation, he knows people that have.

"The people robbed him, then after he go out of the vehicle they shot him," said Dobbins. "You can't imagine that when you get in this car that you are really in danger."

CMPD made two arrest in the Tuesday night shooting and is asking for anyone with additional information regarding the shooting to call Crime Stoppers: 704-334-1600.
