The U.S. Open is just getting started in Pinehurst, but one local company has already come up with a big score. The Mooresville Ice Cream Company has been chosen by the golf tournament to provide cold treats.

"For us, it's great visibility," said Glenn Patcha, Mooresville Ice Cream. "It's a great partnership that we have. We're very proud to be out partnering with the U.S. Open and with Pinehurst. It definitely helps our business."

The 90-year-old Iredell County company has already delivered 1,500 pints of its famous Front Porch Brand of Ice Cream to Pinehurst. Several flavors were chosen, from Chocolate Rocker to Charleston Seasalt to Scarlett Red Velvet.

"Iredell County's got a great traditional history for manufacturing," said Patcha. "Mooresville Ice Cream is very proud to be part and to be part of the history serving Pinehurst and taking Front Porch out to Pinehurst."

The ice cream will be featured at the men’s tournament, which runs through June 15. If it’s a hit, it could be back for the women’s tournament June 17-22.
