VIDEO: Moviegoers Experience Shocking Truth of Texting While Driving

Posted: Updated:

We’ve all heard that texting and driving is a big no, but Volkswagen wants us to get the message in a way unlike before by screening a PSA in a Hong Kong movie theater.

The new viral video sends an audience jolting back from their seats.

As viewers in the theatre munch away on snacks waiting for the start of the movie, the screen in front of them portrays a first-person view of a car driving down a road.

The car’s radio comes on and music plays in the background, causing some of the audience members to move along to the tunes. At this point, the audience only sees the driving car and hears the radio.

A signal is then sent to the phones of the moviegoers causing their cells to go off during the PSA. While people are busy checking their devices the car on crashes on screen. The music suddenly stops, and audience is immediately stunned.

The image of the car’s broken windshield is then displayed on the screen, and text appears that reads, “Mobile use is now the leading cause of death behind the wheel. A reminder to keep your eyes on the road.”

The clip has been viewed more than 10 million times on YouTube.
