I got so sick of the Canadian cold, I moved down to Charlotte just to avoid the snow. And of course to join the My Fox Carolinas family as a Digital Journalist. I grew up in Calgary (think the Houston of Canada) and after graduating from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Journalism, I moved to Toronto to cover sports; which in Canada means hockey.

Charlotte, NC - Today, U.S. News & World Report released their annual list of the best hospitals in the country and Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte made an appearance for the fifth year in a row.

The Carolinas HealthCare System hospital was ranked No. 1 in five categories: Cancer, Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Gastroenterology& GI surgery, Nephrology and Orthopedics.

The rankings are compiled primarily using patient care related data as well data related to patient outcomes. The remaining part of the survey data to determine the rankings comes from the reputations of the physicians working at each hospital.

Data has a place, but for real, live proof, it's best to talk to the people who have entrusted the hospital with their family's care. George Wise and his family have been coming to Levine Children's years. Wise's son Saffir needed surgery on his kidney's three years ago and has been coming here for follow-ups ever since.

Although they have become used to being highly regarded, Dr. Jack Weaver -- a physician at Levine Children's Hospital -- says they work ard every year for this national recognition.
