New Age Spirituality takes on many forms: intuition, tarot, meditation, psychic ability. There is a woman in Charlotte who some say can do it all. They call her the Queen of Intuitives. She says she can see spirits and predict the future.

Buddhism is slowly growing across the Carolinas. It's a religion grounded in peaceful meditation. Now, the religion is starting to make noise in Charlotte, an emerging fixture in this City of Churches. The Charlotte True Buddha Temple offers a traditional style of Buddhism.  The Temple is seeking new, young members.  The Vajradhara Buddhist Center in Uptown offers meditation classes and more.  A diverse group of patrons finds this modern spin on Buddhism alluring.

The Salvation Army Shelter is one of the few places homeless families in Charlotte can go for a safe haven.

Here is the problem: 400 people in need, 250 beds. It's a crisis.

About 200 children call the Salvation Army Shelter home. Upgrades are on the way. Deronda Metz, Director of Social Services, says a 1.4 million dollar renovation plan is in the works. The third floor will be renovated and upgrades to the veterans’ wing have already started. This week, Home Depot and Wells Fargo are donating time and money. The Home Depot Foundation has put forth $25,000 toward the project.

Salvation Army resident, Abbegail Adams has been living at the shelter since December, when she lost her home. Those were tough times. Now Abbegail, a poet, continues to live at the shelter, but her outlook is positive. She is on a mission to make the upgrades a reality. She is grateful for what the shelter has done for her. “So many times they have the sign up that says full, but so many times they make space for so many of us.”

If the necessary funds roll in, the 1.4 million dollar upgrades will begin in August.
