Huntersville of the Future: Give Your Input

Posted: Updated:
Huntersville is going back to the future and it needs your help to get there. The town is getting into a time machine and setting out to create what Huntersville will look like in 15 to 20 years.

Question is, what would you like to see? More restaurants, apartment buildings, wider roads?

Vote for what you would like to see happen in the future to Huntersville. Follow this link: http://www.huntersvilledtsp.com/

I went to Birkdale Village with Google Glass to ask folks if they visit Downtown Huntersville.

“Do you go to downtown huntersville at all?"

"No, not really…ever," said Heather Auten.

"Why not?"

"I just don’t think there’s anything i would want to do there,” said Heather.

I also talked to a gentleman named Michael Pollack.

"Do you ever go to downtown huntersville?"

"Yes," said Michael.

"What do you do there?"

"I went down there when they had the farmer’s market and the activities for the little kids down there,” said Michael.

So huntersville is on a mission - it wants to know what would bring you to downtown. Tonight is the first time they’re meeting - to hear your thoughts.

“What we’re looking at is the downtown in the year 2030. What does it look like? What type of development will it have and depending on the development, what kind of transportation system will we need to accommodate that development,” said Zac Gordon with Huntersville Planning.

Well, we asked around…

“What would have to be there for you to do downtown?"

"Shops and restaurants, entertainment too, live music,” said Heather.

“What would make you go downtown huntersville more?"

"Probably more little shops like here in Birkdale. I think it would be great if they had a weekly farmer’s market," said Michael.

Huntersville is a town that’s taking a progressive step to get people involved in the future of the town. They’re not just asking people to come to a meeting, but also giving the option of voting online what you would like to see in the future of the town.

“We will have that link live tomorrow morning or afternoon. People will be able to ask questions or post pictures of what they’d like to see happen," said Zac with Huntersville Planning.
