DETROIT (WJBK) - Authorities have released the identity of the woman who was found apparently stabbed to death in an SUV on Detroit's west side Monday morning. She is from Sterling Heights and is the mother of four children.

"I was in shock; I just couldn't believe it. That's why I had to rush over here because I just don't understand how someone could do this to her. She was so sweet," says Georgette Harris.

She just learned her best friend, 39-year-old Desanee Young, was found dead on Detroit's west side inside her red Dodge Durango - killed in the most horrific way.

"We came over here and we found out that she was stabbed and her throat was cut," says Harris.

Young's was discovered Monday morning in her SUV which was parked in front of an abandoned house on Piedmont Street.

Sherry Parker remembers seeing the vehicle she didn't recognize, but at first didn't think anything of it until another neighbor walking his dog was able to get a closer look.

"I didn't think [anything] of it because it looked like she probably was just tired, you know, looking like she was talking to somebody. But she wasn't talking to [anybody] - she was dead," says Parker.

Sterling Heights police helped to break the news to family and friends who gathered at Young's home. Detroit police homicide and special ops are also investigating.

Witnesses tell FOX 2 they watched as Young's husband went with police to be questioned. His silver BMW was towed from their home.

"She never went to Detroit; she was afraid of Detroit. She never went - ever. So, I don't understand how she even ended up there," says Harris.

Harris says Young was a stay-at-home mom of four children, three of whom she adopted. She says Young was an amazing mother who devoted her life to her children and didn't deserve to die like this.

"It's devastating that a person as good as her, whose full time focus was her kids, to end up hurt like that," says Harris.

Harris is taking custody of the older two daughters while a relative is taking the younger two boys.

The status of the husband, who was questioned Monday evening, was not known at the time of the report.
