Concord, NC -

NASCAR on FOX completed its coverage of Sprint Cup Series races with the FedEx 400 this afternoon. As the crew packs up, pit reporter Wendy Venturini looks forward to her continued presence at the track for the remainder of the season.

Venturini also works with the Performance Racing Network (PRN). Sometimes you will find her on pit road, interviewing someone for her podcast or working as the first female to anchor a Nationwide race.

"The opportunity from PRN to get into the booth in the last year for the Nationwide races has been awesome, because it's allowed me a whole different perspective than I've ever had on pit road as a pit road reporter," Venturini said.

Venturini’s interest in racing is something she developed at a young age.

"My dad was racing from my birth,” she said. “So, that's all I've ever known is a family that travels on the road. To top it off, my father had the all-female pit crew back in the 80s, which my mom was the tire changer."

Later this year, Venturini will achieve another first for a woman in NASCAR, as she steps into the broadcast booth to co-anchor a Sprint Cup Series race.

“I try not to put too much pressure on myself on those kinds of situations, because I'm just blessed to be here and blessed to have the opportunity to be the first to do whatever it may be in our sport," she said.

Doug Rice, president of PRN, commented, "Wendy, by that time, will have probably already co-anchored 15 Nationwide Series races. So, she will be doing the same thing, only at a much higher level, more listenership and obviously more focus because it's NASCAR's premiere series."

Venturini says being the first female to do a particular task was never her goal. However, her new roles have garnered attention from a number of different people.

"I get a lot of young females approaching me for advice,” she said. “I just tell them, "Take every opportunity you can because a small opportunity could lead to bigger things.””
