The start of the NFL's regular season is still more than three months away, but it's never too early to start looking ahead for most football fans. Here are a couple of games fans may be marking down on their calendars.

Week Three vs. Steelers: It’s always a big game when Pittsburgh rolls into Charlotte, and the fact that the game will be played on Sunday night should only add to the anticipation of this early-season matchup.

Week Four at Baltimore: This matchup turned from a garden-variety NFC South vs. AFC North matchup to Steve Smith vs. the Panthers when he signed with the Ravens this offseason. The recently-departed receiver will line up against the Panthers for the first time after spending his entire 13-year career in Carolina.

Week Eight vs. Seahawks: Russell Wilson and Co. will travel to Charlotte for the third season in a row, but this time they’ll be defending Super Bowl champions. The Panthers went 0-2 against the Seahawks in those meetings, but lost by a combined five points. This game could have big NFC Playoff implications if both teams play up to expectations.

Week Nine vs. Saints: Last season these two teams fought to the finish for the NFC South Division title with Carolina edging out New Orleans. There is a fairly good chance that could happen again in 2014, so this Thursday Night matchup could give the winner a big leg up.

Week 17 at Atlanta: Carolina closes out the regular season in familiar fashion, in the Georgia Dome against their rivals to the south. Last season the Panthers took advantage of a weak Falcons squad and celebrated its first division title in half a decade on their rival's field. Will the Panthers be in a celebratory mood once this year’s game is over?
