York Co. Collects 2 Million Prescriptions

Posted: Updated:

York County and “York County All On Board” announced Wednesday that they have collected more than 2 million doses of prescription drugs from Operation Medicine Drop.

“It’s been an excellent program and we feel it has removed the availability and temptations from our children,” said York County Sheriff Bruce Bryant.

Started by YCAOB in 2009, they wanted to provide a place for people to safely get rid of their unused prescriptions so children and teens could not use it.

“They start with the pain killers in their parents medicine cabinets,” said 16th Circuit Solicitor Kevin Brackett. “Then, they ultimately move onto harder, illegal drugs that they buy on the streets.”

The drop box locations are open and available all year long.

The locations are:

Fort Mill Police Department – 111 Academy Street – Fort Mill

Rock Hill Police Department – 120 East Black Street – Rock Hill

Winthrop Police Department – 526 Myrtle Drive – Rock Hill

York County Sheriff’s Office – Moss Justice Center – York

York Police Department – 12 N. Roosevelt Street – York

Clove Police Department – 112 Bethel Street – Clover

Tega Cay Police Department – 7705 Tega Cay Drive – Tega Cay
