The morning of September 22, 1989 was when I decided what I was going to be when I grow up. I was exactly one week shy of my ninth birthday and the morning after the biggest natural disaster I had ever experienced.

As many of you know, My Fox Carolinas took on the huge undertaking of transforming the old building nestled in Belmont into the newsroom of the future. This undertaking included major construction and the recruitment of talented journalists across the country.

But in recent weeks, we have discovered that we are not alone. In fact, it is looking more like we have moved in on territory that belongs to many snakes.

The construction in the area has driven out these harmless snakes who seem to be curious about the newsroom of the future.

We contacted Orkin to have them spray a solution that smelled much like moth balls as snakes tend to hate the scent of moth balls. However, these friendly snakes seem to be here to stay!

These snakes appear to be of the 'common krait' species which, according to Wikipedia, feed primarily on other snakes, rats, lizards and frogs. These snakes are harmless to people; in fact, people usually want them around to keep the other pesky, harmful rodents at bay.

So.....say hello to our little friends!
