Ft. Mill Businesses Forced To Relocate Due To New Walmart

Posted: Updated:

A new Neighborhood Market Walmart is headed to Fort Mill.

They claim they are taking over a vacant shopping center off Tom Hall Street, but the shopping center has multiple businesses that will have to move shop.

Mike Wright, owner of USA Tires in the shopping center, says he’s not sure what he will need to do.

“They are trying to help us,” said Wright of the developers plans to relocate the current businesses.

He said there have been rumors of new space that will be built for them, but nothing is certain.

The owner of a dry cleaning store in the plaza said he hasn’t been informed of anything that is going on.

The developers will demolish the existing plaza and construct a new retail store with reconstructed and landscaped parking areas.

“I think it’s a great boost for the economy,” said Fort Mill representative Kimberly Starnes.

The $11 million investment into the town will boost tax revenue dramatically.

The project is on track to be completed by the end of the year.
