Protips - The Perfect Memorial Day Burger

Posted: Updated:

Start your grills because burger season is here. In order to get some protips on building the perfect Memorial Day burger, I went to the Penguin Drive-In located in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood.

First of all, unless you like dry burgers, don’t buy the lean, low-fat beef. Get something with some fat in it because some of the fat will cook off the burger and you need some grease on thing to keep it juicy.

If you get quality beef, you won’t need to add any breadcrumbs or spices to the mix. Remember, we’re making burgers here, not meatballs.

Also, resist slapping the meat around too much when forming the patties. This is a common mistake that should be avoided. If you fail to follow this tip, you will likely end up with rubbery burgers.
