Before the checkered flag is waved on Sunday, expect hundreds of thousands of people to walk across Uptown's checkered crosswalk.

Speed Street is here for the next three days. It is the 20th year of the festival.

There will be food and fun, and best of all, it's free. It will all be cleaned up by Saturday night because festival management wants to make sure the focus is on the race by Sunday.

CMPD reminds you to take careful precautions over the weekend,

"Hide your bag. Always take your keys. Lock your car. That will prevent having a great time on speed street and coming back and having a difficult time," said Captain Mike Campagna
