The wait is almost over for muscle car fans looking to get a hold of the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang. The car won’t be arriving at Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] dealerships until the fall, but the order books are now open and pricing starts from just $24,425 including destination. That nets you a base 2015 Mustang fastback coupe equipped with a 3.7-liter V-6 and six-speed manual transmission.

Ford is yet to reveal pricing on the rest of the lineup but the figures should lie close to those of the outgoing 2014 model. For example, the 2015 Mustang’s $24,425 starting price is just $1,090 more than the $23,335 sticker of the comparable 2014 model, despite the numerous styling and technology upgrades.

At launch, the 2015 Mustang comes with three available power plants, each of which can be paired with a six-speed manual or paddle-shifted six-speed automatic. They include a 3.7-liter V-6 for the base Mustang, a mid-level 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder for a new Mustang EcoBoost model, and a 5.0-liter V-8 once again for the range-topping Mustang GT.

Ford still hasn’t announced the final performance specs but promises that the V-6 will deliver more than 300 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, the EcoBoost four more than 305 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque, and the V-8 more than 420 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque.

Standard across the range is fully independent suspension at both ends; keyless entry and push-button start; the latest SYNC interface system with new AppLink technology; display screens in the instrument cluster and center console; a reversing camera; leather trim on the steering wheel; eight airbags; and high-intensity discharge headlights.

Optional extras include blind spot and cross traffic monitoring systems; adaptive cruise control with collision warning; a drive mode selector to adjust steering, throttle, traction and transmission settings; the Track Apps performance monitor; and, for the Mustang GT, the new electronic line lock and a launch control system. Many of these extras are expected to be bundled in new Premium and Performance packages, though Ford is yet to announce these.

Ford has confirmed, however, that the Mustang EcoBoost and Mustang GT models are also available with a 50 Years Appearance Package that adds special touches like a chrome-accented grille, “50 Years” rear badge and custom 19 alloy wheels similar to those found on the 2015 Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition.
