I got so sick of the Canadian cold, I moved down to Charlotte just to avoid the snow. And of course to join the My Fox Carolinas family as a Digital Journalist. I grew up in Calgary (think the Houston of Canada) and after graduating from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Journalism, I moved to Toronto to cover sports; which in Canada means hockey.

Matthews, NC -
Will Henely has spent more time indoors this past year than most kids his age. The seven-year-old has been battling a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

While he's been forced to miss out on some things, the time indoors has given him the opportunity to focus on his musical passions.

Today, Guitar Center in Matthews and Make-A-Wish Foundation granted Will's wish by giving him a brand new drum set so he can pursue his passion like a pro.

They rolled out the red carpet for Will...literally. Zaxby's provided food for the party, Action Plus Ideas provided official 'band' t-shirts and Johnson & Wales Culinary School students even made a drum shaped cake.

After his grand entrance, Will sat down with his dad and grandfather to put on a show for his friends and family.

What was the best part of the party? Celebrating the fact that after months of painful and scary treatments, Will is now cancer-free!
