My Fox Carolinas got an exclusive view of the penthouse owned by the team of All-Star Race winner Jamie McMurray. Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates owns one of dozens of condos overlooking the track at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. People pay big money for a view they get from the races only three times a year.

There are plenty of places to party during the race, but few spots have a view like the one from the penthouse condo at The Charlotte Motor Speedway. Penthouse patron Andrew Myers said, “The view is wonderful. You don’t have to wait for the car to come around the track, and it’s just a wonderful place to be.”

A couple of people make the swanky spaces their homes year round. Others come just to watch the race. The condos are owned by retired drivers, racing teams, or their owners.

Steve Lauletta, President of Chip Ganassi racing with Felix Sabates, said, “It definitely sets us apart. There’s not a lot of teams that have this view and this opportunity to bring folks here.” Lauletta added, “The more they do things like these condos and the TV and all the experiences they can bring, that will sell more tickets. It will bring more people into the area, and they’ll get to enjoy the sport.”

The Charlotte Motor Speedway tells us they were the first sports facility in the country to offer year-round living overlooking the track. After that, other sports venues caught on.

The suites for sale range in price from $350,000 dollars to more than half a million bucks. Some people say they wouldn’t trade the action in the infield for the life of luxury. Chris Carver, a race fan, said, “We want to sit outside, so we can smell the rubber burning and hear the engines roaring. Go Dale.”
