Woman denies mistreatment of animals after removal

Posted: Updated:
HOWELL, Mich. (AP) -- A woman who had more than 90 dogs and puppies removed from her property in Livingston County is disputing allegations that she mistreated animals.

The Humane Society of the United States and veterinarians assisted Livingston County Animal Control and the Livingston County sheriff's department Wednesday with removal of the dogs from the Howell-area property.

Investigators found large-breed dogs and puppies living in what Animal Control and the Humane Society say were substandard conditions.

Margaret Elaine Komorny of Howell Township tells the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of Howell the dogs weren't in overcrowded cages and got care daily.

The 76-year-old owner of Raisin Tree Farm is charged with animal cruelty related to circumstances at her farm in April, but no charges have been brought related to Wednesday's removal.
