The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down near uptown.
According to the NWS the weak twister touched down at the dead end of Arrow Point Boulevard and traveled just over a half mile.
The tornado had a maximum wind speed between 80-85 miles per hour.
Crews were out in full force throughout the morning cleaning up downed tree branches.
Several trees were completely uprooted like the one that fell on James Freeman’s Clanton Road home.
“We heard all the rain and woke up. Then right after that the tree came down. So we came outside to see the damage and we could see the tree was on our car.”
Freeman is upset about the damage to his house and car but he says this storm did have a silver lining for him.
“I think I was blessed because if that truck hadn’t been there to hold the weight up off the house it could have done more damage.”
Luckily, nobody was injured during the event.
