DETROIT (WJBK) -- A Detroit teacher fired last month for breaking up a classroom fight with a broom has her job back.

Education Achievement Authority spokesperson Chrystal Wilson says after a review of the incident, the EAA decided to reinstate Tiffani Eaton as a teacher at Pershing High School.

Wilson says Eaton will receive retro pay from the date of her dismissal and will have the option of being reassigned to another school within the district.

Eaton was terminated after video surfaced showing her swinging a broom to break up a fight between two of her students.

Tiffani Eaton: What I did was 'virtuous'

In the video, the two Pershing students are fighting for at least half a minute before Eaton intervenes. Several students can be seen standing by as the two fight, knocking over desks.

Eaton, whose two-way security radio was not working at the time, intervenes and strikes one of the students on the back with a broom multiple times. The student backs off, but then the other student runs back towards him and the fight continues.

The fight finally appears to end up when a student steps in and pulls the two apart. The video ends moments later.

One of the students admittedly fighting in the video, Kiren Lowrey, has said Eaton was one of his favorite teachers. He and his mother agreed with the school's decision to end Eaton's employment.
